When to Use Syndol Tablets?
Syndol tablets provide short-term relief for acute moderate pain. If you've tried standard painkillers like paracetamol and aspirin but haven't experienced relief, you can use Syndol.
The tablets are most beneficial when treating the following acute conditions:
- Hormonal and tension headaches
- Migraines
- Period pain
- Neuralgia (nerve pain)
- Dental pain
- Discomfort due to arthritis
- Post-surgical pain
It's important to remember that Syndol is for short-term usage only. If you experience relief from standard painkillers, it's best to continue using those.
Syndol Tablets Age Restrictions
In most cases, Syndol tablets are suitable for adults and children aged 12 and older. However, the dosage varies depending on age, so it's important to follow the instructions.
How to Use Syndol Tablets?
The dosage instructions for Syndol tablets are as follows:
- Adults: Two tablets every four to six hours - up to eight tablets in 24 hours.
- Teenagers: Teenagers aged 16-18 should take one to two tablets every six hours - up to eight in 24 hours.
- Children: Children aged 12-15 can take one tablet every 6 hours, up to 4 tablets per day.
Always swallow Syndol tablets whole with water, and wait at least 4 hours between doses. Syndol tablets contain codeine, which is addictive.
Taking it for more than three days can lead to dependence. The tablets can also make you feel dizzy and drowsy; please avoid driving or operating machinery while using them.
When to Avoid Syndol Tablets?
Syndol tablets contain codeine and paracetamol. While many people can take them for three days when experiencing acute moderate pain, there are some cases when you should avoid them. These include:
- Other Painkillers: Never take Syndol with other paracetamol and codeine products. It increases the risks of overdose and long-term organ damage.
- Antidepressants & Sedatives: If you're using or have recently taken Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitor antidepressants or sedating drugs, you should avoid using Syndol as it can cause an interaction.
- Allergies: Individuals with sensitivities or allergies to any ingredient in Syndol are at risk of a severe allergic reaction.
- Respiratory Conditions: Syndol may cause breathing difficulties in people with asthma and other respiratory conditions.
- Liver Disease: The liver metabolises paracetamol, which can increase the risks of damage. Alcoholics or heavy drinkers must also avoid it.
- Obstructive Bowel Disorders: Codeine can worsen your symptoms, cause constipation, and increase the risks of bowel blockages.
- Pregnancy/Breastfeeding: People in the last trimester should avoid codeine as it can harm the baby. Codeine can also pass into breast milk.
Precautions for Syndol Tablets
Individuals with a history of opiate dependence should avoid codeine painkillers when possible. However, if you do take them, please seek advice from a doctor or pharmacist.
If you have any medical conditions or are using any treatments, it's essential to speak to a doctor or pharmacist to avoid interactions.
