Solpadeine Plus is a short-term option to relieve pain only. The pharmacist can only supply 1 box per patient per order.

Solpadeine Plus has three active ingredients - paracetamol 500mg, caffeine 30mg & codeine 8mg.

All ingredients combined provide fast and effective pain relief. It’s important to note that Solpadeine Plus tablets are suitable for no more than 3 days of use. This is because codeine is a form of opioid and can cause potential addiction.

When to Use Solpadeine Plus Tablets?

Solpadeine Plus is an effective painkiller that offers short-term relief for acute moderate pain. If you've tried traditional options like paracetamol, ibuprofen, and aspirin, Solpadeine can be an effective alternative.

It's most effective for:

  • Dental pain
  • Period cramps
  • Cold and flu symptoms
  • Joint and muscle pains
  • Migraines and headaches

Codeine is an addictive substance, and you can only use it for a maximum of three days.

Age Restrictions for Solpadeine Plus Tablets

Solpadeine Plus Tablets aren't suitable for children under 12. In some cases, it may be suitable for children aged 12-15, but only if a pharmacist or doctor recommends it. Adolescents aged 16-18 and adults aged 18+ can use Solpadeine, but dosages vary by age.

How to Use Solpadeine Plus Tablets?

The dosage instructions for Solpadeine Plus Tablets are as follows:

  • Children Aged 12-15: 1 tablet every six hours - a maximum of 4 tablets daily.
  • Adolescents 16-18: 1-2 tablets every six hours - no more than 8 daily.
  • Adults 18+: 2 tablets every 4-6 hours - no more than 8 tablets daily.

When using Solpadeine, please follow these instructions?

  • Swallow each tablet whole with water. Never crush, chew, or attempt to dissolve them.
  • It's fine to take them with or without food. However, some people find that taking them with food can be beneficial if they have sensitive stomachs.

If your pain lasts longer than three days, please see a doctor or speak to a registered pharmacist.

When to Avoid Using Solpadeine Plus Tablets?

Solpadeine Plus is a powerful medication, but there are some situations when you should avoid it. These include:

  • Age: Anyone under 12 shouldn't take Solpadeine Plus tablets as there's a risk of breathing problems.
  • Breathing Conditions: Individuals with severe asthma or other respiratory conditions should also avoid using codeine products.
  • Allergies: Avoid if you have allergies or sensitivity to paracetamol, codeine and caffeine products.
  • Rapid Metabolisers: If you know your body metabolises codeine into morphine rapidly, taking products containing codeine can lead to morphine toxicity.
  • Constipation: Codeine can also cause constipation. People who have problems with constipation or suffer from bowel blockages should avoid using it.
  • Other Medicines: You should never combine Solpadeine with other codeine or paracetamol-containing products. It's also important to avoid taking it if you're using sedatives.

Precautions for Solpadeine Plus Tablets

While these won't automatically rule you out of taking Solpadeine Plus tablets, you should seek advice if the following apply:

  • Pregnancy & Breastfeeding: There's a risk that codeine can pass into breast milk. For this reason, you should avoid using it unless your doctor says it's OK.
  • Liver or Kidney Disease: Individuals with kidney and liver conditions - including alcoholic liver disease - should also seek medical advice before using Solpadeine Plus.
  • Addictions: If you have a history of addictions, it's important to remember that codeine is an addictive substance that puts you at a higher risk of relapsing.
  • Head Injuries: Previous head injuries or enhanced pressure in the skull can also increase the risks of complications.
