Premarin tablets are an example of hormone replacement therapy (HRT). This medication boosts hormone levels within the body and eases menopausal symptoms such as vaginal dryness, hot flushes, poor sleep and mood swings. Premarin tablets increase the body's naturally-occurring hormones. Premarin tablets are suitable for premenopausal women and contain conjugated oestrogen.

Oral Premarin tablets are designed for women who have not had a period in 12 consecutive months. This form of medication usually contains estradiol. This works to replace oestrogen deficiency and a synthetic form of progesterone.
Some tablets contain both hormones; some have a 14-day cycle of a single hormone with a 14-day cycle of combined hormones or can contain only oestrogen.
The purpose of Premarin tablets is to level out the hormone imbalance that occurs during menopause so that symptoms are alleviated.
