This medication contains an active ingredient called Diphenhydramine 50mg, which causes drowsiness. Nytol one a night should be used intermittently and for a short time. You should not use this medication every night as it can potentially cause addiction.

When to Use Nytol One-a-Night 50mg Tablets?

Nytol One-a-Night contains Diphenhydramine hydrochloride, an antihistamine that can relieve temporary sleeping difficulties.

If you're experiencing insomnia, stressful life events, or anything else that impacts your sleep quality, Nytol One a Night can be beneficial.

The tablets are only recommended for acute (temporary insomnia), including:

  • Stress: Problems sleeping can result from anxiety triggered by stressful events. Examples include preparing for an exam, moving home, or work-related stress.
  • Sleep Disruptions: Temporary shifts in work schedules and jet lag can also disrupt your sleep rhythms.
  • Minor Illness: Some illnesses, such as colds, can disrupt your sleep. In some cases, Nytol may be suitable, unless you're taking other medications that could cause interactions.

Age Restrictions for Nytol One-a-Night 50mg Tablets

Nytol One a Night tablets are only suitable for adults and children aged 16 and over. The active ingredient diphenhydramine hydrochloride is a powerful antihistamine, and you should never administer it to younger children.

How to Use Nytol One a Night for Longer and Deeper Sleep?

When using Nytol One-a-Night, please follow these instructions:

  • Take one tablet and never exceed the recommended dose - even if you don't feel tired immediately.
  • Nytol works best when it's at its peak. Take it 20 minutes before you go to bed. This ensures the medication makes you feel sleepy when needed.
  • Never take it if you won't have a window for at least seven hours of sleep.
  • The antihistamine can make you feel drowsy in the morning. Please avoid driving or using heavy machinery if you feel tired.

Remember, Nytol is only for short-term use. If you're still experiencing insomnia after two weeks, please see a GP.

When to Avoid Using Nytol One a Night?

Nytol One-a-Night tablets can be helpful for occasional insomnia. However, there are some cases when you should avoid taking it. These include:

  • Medical Conditions: Individuals with conditions like glaucoma, bladder problems, prostate issues, respiratory conditions like Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease or digestive disorders may experience complications and worse symptoms.
  • Lifestyle Conflicts: People who may be more prone to dizziness due to existing conditions or older age are at greater risk of falls and injuries. If you can't get at least seven hours of sleep each night, you should also avoid using tablets.
  • Alcohol Consumption: Never combine Nytol with alcohol. The effects range from dizziness and loss of coordination to dangerously deep sedation.
  • Chronic Insomnia: If you experience insomnia for longer than two weeks, please seek medical advice. Your GP may explore lifestyle changes, test for underlying conditions, or refer you to a sleep clinic.
  • Medicines: You shouldn't combine Nytol with MAOI antidepressants or other sedatives and antihistamines.
