Kliovance tablets are a hormone replacement therapy (HRT) that may reduce menopausal symptoms such as hot flushes, poor sleep, vaginal dryness, night sweats, and mood swings. Kliovance tablets steady oestrogen levels, keeping them to what they were pre-menopause. This HRT is suitable for postmenopausal women and contains oestradiol and norethisterone.

Oral HRT is licensed for use in women who have not had a period in 12 consecutive months. They usually contain estradiol, which helps to replace oestrogen deficiency and a synthetic form of progesterone. Some tablets contain both hormones; some have a 14-day cycle of a single hormone with a 14-day cycle of combined hormones or can contain only oestrogen.

As with all medications that relieve menopause symptoms, you may experience side effects with Kliovance tablets. Most side effects are mild and will go away over time. However, there are some side effects that can cause health problems or disrupt your daily life. If you are worried about certain side effects, you should contact your doctor to discuss these issues straight away. If you are concerned about side effects before you decide which treatment to choose, you can contact a member of our team who will be happy to help you.

Some side effects of Kliovance tablets may include:

  • Menstrual cycle abnormalities
  • Increased susceptibility to thrush
  • Vomiting
  • Headaches
  • Mood changes
  • Nausea
  • Weight change
  • High blood pressure
  • Changes in breast tissue

There are few serious side effects associated with taking oral HRT. Seek medical attention as soon as possible if you experience swelling in the lower leg that is inflamed and hot to touch.
