It belongs to a collection of medications known as antimuscarinics or anticholinergics, and works by preventing messages from being sent to the inner ear (vestibular system) to the part of your brain named the 'vomiting centre'. Joy Rides tablets also control vomiting symptoms by delivering nerve messages to your stomach that usually induce retching. Joy Rides tablets can be taken by most children (3 years and over), and adults. The active ingredient is hyoscine hydrobromide which works on the brain to discourage messages of travel sickness from entering your gut.

Joy-rides tablets are a medicine that is used to prevent travel sickness. It contains the active ingredient hyoscine hydrobromide, which works to block signals reaching the brain to initiate a nauseous response. With this response, a person can travel by car, train, boat, or plane comfortably and without disruption due to motion sickness.

If you suffer from an intolerance to hyoscine hydrobromide, the active ingredient in Joy Rides, or suffer an allergic reaction then you should stop taking them. Allergic-type symptoms can include fever, rash, itchiness, difficulty breathing, faster heart rate, swelling, and hives.

The most common side effect in a child taking Joy Rides for motion sickness may be drowsiness, so it is important a child is not left unattended if they have taken a dose.
