Imigran, the brand name of Sumatriptan, is a medication used to narrow the blood vessels in the brain, which can help to reduce pressure and relieve the symptoms of migraine attacks.

The active ingredient in Imigran, Sumatriptan succinate, belongs to a family of medicines called triptans. They work by reducing the pain signals which are sent to the brain by blocking specific receptors.

It also helps reduce the effects of nausea and sensitivity to stimulus, such as light. This medication is effective when taken at the earliest opportunity from when a migraine begins.

Imigran is available from our online pharmacy in strengths of 50mg or 100mg. To buy Imigran online, start your consultation or speak to a member of our team.

The side effects of Imigran can include chest pain, heaviness, pressure or tightness in the chest, throat or other parts of the body, or unusual sensations, including numbness, tingling and warmth or cold. These effects may be intense but generally pass quickly.

Other common side effects include:

  • Feeling sick (nausea) or being sick (vomiting), although this may be due to the migraine itself
  • Tiredness or drowsiness
  • Dizziness, feeling weak or getting hot flushes
  • Temporary increase in blood pressure
  • Shortness of breath

When using Imigran nasal spray, it is common to experience nasal irritation, altered taste, or throat irritation as well.
