When to Use Evorel Conti Patches?
Evorel Conti is a hormone replacement therapy (HRT) patch for women who are classed as postmenopausal with an intact uterus.
Your healthcare provider may recommend it if it's been 12 or more months since your last period.
Evorel Conti can regulate your hormones and reduce the symptoms of menopause, including hot flashes, mood swings, and vaginal dryness.
In some cases, it may also be used to reduce the risks of osteoporosis in women with low bone density or high fracture risk.
Age Restrictions for Evorel Conti Patches
There are no official age restrictions in place because the patch is designed for post-menopausal women. However, it's most often given to women aged 50 to 65. If you're over 65, your healthcare provider may recommend an alternative treatment due to limited research.
How to Use Evorel Conti Patches?
When using Evorel Conti Patches, please follow these instructions to ensure that you absorb the hormones correctly:
- You'll need to change your patch twice weekly to ensure your hormone levels remain stable. It's easiest to choose two days and set reminders.
- Please apply the patch to a hairless area of skin below the waist that's not prone to irritation. For example, the best locations are usually the upper thigh or buttocks.
- Before applying the patch, make sure your skin is clean and dry.
- Tear the sachet along the indicated line, and peel off the protective backing. Place the patch on your skin and hold it in place for 30 seconds.
- Run your finger along the edges of the patch to ensure it adheres to the skin correctly.
- You can shower, bathe, and swim while wearing the patch. However, if you'll be out in the sun, please ensure your skin is covered.
- Once it's time to change the patch, just peel it off and dispose of it in your household waste. Apply a new patch to a different area of skin.
When to Avoid Using Evorel Conti Patches?
Evorel Conti patches aren't suitable for everyone. You should avoid using them in the following cases:
- Estrogen Sensitive Cancers: If you currently have, have had in the past, or are suspected of having an estrogen-sensitive cancer like breast cancer or endometrial cancer, Evorel Conti patches aren't suitable.
- Unexplained Vaginal Bleeding: If you've experienced any strange vaginal bleeding, your doctor will need to investigate the root cause before prescribing HRT.
- Blood Clots: Individuals with current blood clots or a history of DVT should also avoid using the patch.
- Medical Conditions: If you have angina, endometrial hyperplasia, liver disease, or porphyria, you should also avoid using the patch.
Precautions for Evorel Conti Patches
The following situations won't instantly rule out our Evorel Conti patches, but you may need regular check-ups. Your doctor might also decide that an alternative treatment is more suitable:
- Medical Conditions: If you have fibroids, endometriosis, Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE), high blood pressure, diabetes or migraines.
- Scheduled Surgery: Using HRT before surgery can increase the risks of blood clots. You should avoid it for at least four weeks.
- Sensitivities: If you have sensitive skin, your doctor may recommend an alternative treatment.
