When to Use Eumovate Cream?
Eumovate Cream is a highly effective topical corticosteroid that relieves inflammatory skin conditions. If any of the following apply, you can use it to reduce irritation, redness, and swelling:
- Eczema: The cream reduces inflammation and relieves itchy/flaky skin.
- Seborrheic Dermatitis: A subtype of eczema that causes red and greasy scales.
- Photodermatitis: Skin reactions that are often triggered when you're exposed to sunlight.
- Prurigo Nodularis: Characterised by itchy bumps on the legs and arms.
- Allergic Dermatitis: Reduces the symptoms of allergic and contact dermatitis.
- Reactions: Eumovate Cream can also relieve insect bites and nappy rash.
Please note that Eumovate isn't a preventative treatment, and it should only be used to treat your symptoms. As they improve, your doctor may recommend reducing the frequency.
Age Restrictions for Eumovate Cream
Eumovate Cream is for adults and children over 12, but you shouldn't give it to younger children unless your doctor advises otherwise.
How to Use Eumovate Cream?
When using Eumovate Cream, please follow these instructions to ensure you apply it correctly:
- Apply the Cream: Place a small amount of Eumovate Cream onto the skin and rub it in gently until the cream is fully absorbed.
- Dosage: In most cases, you'll begin by applying the cream twice daily, but this usually decreases to once daily when your symptoms improve.
- Duration: You should avoid using Eumovate for over a week unless your doctor advises otherwise. However, for severe symptoms, your doctor or pharmacist may prescribe it for up to four weeks.
When to Avoid Using Eumovate?
As a corticosteroid treatment, Eumovate isn't suitable for everyone. There are some cases when you should avoid it, including:
- Skin Infections: Eumovate can decrease symptoms caused by infections, but only when an antibiotic is prescribed simultaneously. It won't be able to treat viral infections like chickenpox.
- Acne & Rosacea: Using Eumovate Cream for rosacea or acne won't offer any benefits. You should ask a pharmacist for treatment recommendations.
- Wounds: You should also avoid applying Eumovate to wounds and broken skin.
- Delicate Areas: Never apply Eumovate to the genital area or face, unless your doctor recommends it.
- Allergies: If you're allergic to any of the ingredients in Eumovate, please find a suitable alternative.
Precautions for Eumovate Cream
- Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Please speak to a doctor before using Eumovate Cream if you're pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Leg Ulcers: Applying the cream near a chronic leg ulcer can increase the risk of reactions and infections.
- Long-Term Use: Most people should only use the cream for seven days, as longer usage can lead to skin thinning.
