When to Use Dioralyte Blackcurrant Flavour Sachets?

Dioralyte Blackcurrant Flavour Sachets are effective ORT (oral rehydration therapy) treatments. They replace essential salts and body water that's lost due to:

  • Acute Diarrhoea (Gastroenteritis): Diarrhoea is one of the leading causes of bodily fluid loss. The loss of excess water and electrolytes can cause dehydration, but Dioralyte replenishes your fluid and electrolyte balance.
  • Vomiting: Vomiting can also lead to dehydration over time, but using Dioralyte can replace your fluids.
  • Dioralyte can also be beneficial for people with excess sweating or conditions like the flu, where dehydration can occur.

Age Restrictions for Dioralyte Blackcurrant Flavour Sachets

Dioralyte is generally suitable for infants, children, and adults. However, if you plan on giving it to infants under the age of 2, please see a GP or seek medical advice first.

How to Use Dioralyte Blackcurrant Flavour Sachets?

Dioralyte Blackcurrant Flavour Sachets are simple to use. Please follow these instructions:

  • Empty one sachet into a glass of water. Make sure you use 200ml of water as it's important to ensure the right balance.
  • If you're administering the solution to an infant under 2, boil the water first, let it cool, then add the sachet.
  • Stir until the sachet's dissolved, and the liquid is colourless.
  • Drink the liquid immediately, and you should begin to notice the positive effects.

Dosage:

  • Infants: A doctor will tell you how much to give an infant. Please never exceed their recommendations.
  • Children: Children over two can use one sachet for each loose motion.
  • Adults: One or two sachets after every loose bowel motion - up to 14 in 24 hours.

When to Avoid Using Dioralyte Relief Sachets?

Most people can use Dioralyte sachets, but there are some cases when you should avoid them. These include:

  • Kidney or Liver Failure: Individuals with kidney or liver problems should avoid using the sachets, as they can disrupt the balance of salts, worsening symptoms.
  • Allergies: If you're sensitive or allergic to sodium chloride, potassium chloride or any of the ingredients in Dioralyte, please avoid it.
  • Obstructions: Individuals with intestinal obstructions should seek alternative treatments.

Precautions for Dioralyte Relief Sachets

If any of the following apply, please seek medical advice before using it:
