Age Restrictions for Contac Dual Relief Tablets

Contac tablets are suitable for adults and children aged 12 and over. Children aged 12-15 may need to take a lower dose, depending on your pharmacist's or doctor's recommendations. Please note that children under 12 shouldn't use the tablets.

How to Use Contac Non-Drowsy Dual Relief Tablets?

When using Contac Non-Drowsy Dual Relief Tablets, please follow these instructions to ensure safety and prevent side effects:

  • Take with Water: Never crush or chew the tablets. Swallow them whole with water. You can take them with or without food.
  • Don't Take Late at Night: Contac tablets contain a decongestant called pseudoephedrine. It's a stimulant, which means you may experience insomnia.
  • Length: Never take Contac for more than 7 days. If you're still struggling with symptoms, please speak to a registered pharmacist or doctor.
  • Alcohol Use: Avoid drinking alcohol while using the medication, as it can increase the risks of liver damage.

Contac Non-Drowsy Dual Relief Tablets Dosage Instructions:

  • Adults & Children 16+: Take two tablets every 4 to 6 hours as needed.
  • Children 12–15: Check the patient information leaflet and follow the advice of a healthcare professional. Some children aged 12-15 may need to take one tablet every four to six hours.
  • Maximum Limit: Leave at least four hours between doses and don't exceed more than six tablets in 24 hours.

When to Avoid Using Contac Dual Relief Non-Drowsy Tablets 500mg 30mg?

Because Contac Dual Relief Non-Drowsy Tablets contain pseudoephedrine, there are some situations in which you should avoid taking them.

These include:

  • Cardiovascular Conditions: Decongestants can cause blood pressure spikes or undue pressure on the heart if you have a pre-existing condition like high blood pressure.
  • Diabetes: Individuals with diabetes may find that the medication interferes with their blood sugar levels.
  • Glaucoma: Certain medications can worsen glaucoma and increase pressure within the eye.
  • Hyperthyroidism: Taking Contac Dual Relief with an overactive thyroid may cause an increased heart rate and tremors.
  • Enlarged Prostate: Taking medicines that contain pseudoephedrine can make it challenging to pass urine.
  • Kidney Problems: Your kidneys might be unable to clear the medication from your body effectively.
  • Certain Antidepressants: Avoid using Contac if you're currently taking MAOIs (Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors), or if you've used them within the last 14 days.
  • Other Cold/Flu Medicines: Never combine Contac with other cold and flu medicines or paracetamol-containing products.
